Congregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center of Saratoga Springs is pleased to announce that their Spiritual Leader, Dr. and Cantor Kenneth Blatt, received his Rabbinical Ordination on Thursday evening, June 24th at the Free Synagogue of Flushing In Queens. Cantor Blatt received his Ordination from The Rabbinical Academy, the Mesifta Adath Wolkowisk. The ceremony included a Board of Rabbis and presided over by the Dean of the Rabbinical Academy, Rabbi and Dr. Charles Agin. Many of our members attended this momentous occasion to celebrate with his family and friends.
Rabbi Blatt has been with Congregation Shaara Tfille since January of 2010. Previously, he served as Cantor at Temple Beth Kodesh in Boynton Beach, FL. He is a native New Yorker, received his BA from Queens College, earned his DMD from University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, and completed his residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center. He practiced dentistry for over a decade, but his strong interests and talents in the performing arts led him to obtain a MFA from Florida Atlantic University and his PhD from Michigan State University. Dr. Blatt performed as a professional singer and actor, and has directed numerous theater productions. However, he found his passion in Jewish music. He studied cantorial music with the renowned Cantor Leon Berger in Brooklyn, NY, continued his Judaic studies at the School of Sacred Music of Woodmere, NY, where he received his Cantorial Ordination.
